Mid-week Quickie #4
$40 jeans, Outnet Sale goodies, a perfect new Loewe bag and a few other fave finds of the week
Happiest of Wednesdays to you!
The carpet is in. Finally! It did not happen on Friday as promised but on Monday (fifth date is a charm!). So that meant we lived in total chaos for even longer than expected. But now that it’s done, all is forgiven (not true, I’m holding that grudge for as long as I see fit). Now the house is back in order I feel so much better.
Highly recommend Bremworth (they did not install, and surprise surprise, I will not be recommending who we used for that!) carpet. It feels extremely soft, cosy and luxurious and it’s made the biggest difference to the space.
While the house was turned upside down, I went through my bathroom beauty cabinet and cleared out expired product (very soothing), reorganised our towel and linen cupboard and we stumbled upon Disney’s newest masterpiece, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Christie Story. I’d seen snippets of this saga throughout the years but never really knew the ins and outs of what happened. Read more about it here if you’re curious. Or if you’ve still got Beckham fever and need another dose of WAG / UK football drama - give it a watch. It’s three episodes, unintentionally hilarious and incredibly juicy.
This Tiktok is a great explainer of the WAG world circa 2006!

Now onto what else has caught my eye + goodies I need to share this week!
Matilda Goad / fun door handles etc
Who doesn’t love a fun home accessory. Door handles, knobs, hooks etc can be so boring and lack personality but that’s not the case with Matilda Goad’s offerings!
I also love India Mahdavi for these kind of pieces. Hay also make some really fun, quirky home things. We’re going to buy these shelves in pink for our spare bedroom to go on either side of the bed.
Loewe
The Loewe Pebble Bucket bag (from SS24) has my heart. I was invited to preview it at a PR showing last week and it’s perfect.
The shape, size, colour. Straight to the top of the wishlist! And how great is this new campaign:
Love Greta Lee - if you haven’t seen her new film, Past Lives yet, go! It’s beautiful and has stayed with me ever since seeing it.
Sezane
Got the cutest pair of socks and a cardigan from Sezane this week. A totally impractical purchase as we are already regularly having 30+ degree days in Sydney but as I’ve shared before, I love to always dress for winter no matter the season! The blue is so good and the knit is very soft and cosy.
OUTNET Sale finds
Found a few gems in The Outnet sale. This Toteme floaty summer dress in white ($187) and black ($341). Love this lilac Nasushka Origami bag ($431). This Jil Sander silk-organza skirt ($273) is so pretty! And this &Daughter red sweater ($185) is dreamy.
Mejuri - Anklet Girl Summer
I never knew my ankle was missing something until I put on my new Mejuri boyfriend anklet. It’s 14k gold so I never have to take it off. I love how dainty it is.
Cotton On $40 jeans
Maybe two years ago I bought a pair of jeans from Cotton On. I’ve worn them weekly since. For a pair of jeans that cost under $50 the quality is fantastic also. I sized up so they’d be baggier. They’re great with a belt. They come in white (currently $30!!), a darker wash ($35!!) and this blue wash also.
7 new books!
For some reason I can’t just buy one book at a time, so I bought 7! And I had a very lovely birthday gift voucher for Booktopia. Have you read any? What’s the last book you bought?
And of course, today I was walking past Ariel in Paddington (love this book store) and had to pick up Britney’s new book, The Woman In Me. I’m going to start it in the next day or so because I don’t want the book to be spoilt - there’s nothing I hate more than a spoiler- and I need to be prepared for the onslaught of forthcoming news stories/headlines this will be hitting my social algorithm.
Beauty:
Wella Hair products
I love a good hydrating hair product. I have oily hair so I’ve shied away from these types of products in the past but ever since I bleached my hair, they’ve become a necessity. And hydrating products are great for curly hair (my hair is curly/wavy). Enter the Wella Nutri-Enrich range. I’ve been using the Shampoo, Conditioner and hair mask (you can buy this trio in a pack right now at a discounted price) for the last month or so. It’s all super hydrating and nourishing, without being heavy and leaves my hair feeling clean and bouncy. Big fan!
Dyson - new colours
Speaking of hair, tis the season for limited edition special pieces and Dyson have released newbies Blue Blush and Ceramic Pop across their range of hair tools. I have the Supersonic in the Blue Blush colourway and I’m obsessed. Such a good blue and really - are there better hair tools on the market?!
Nero Palo Santo x Koda Cutters
Nero Palo Santo is Koda Cutters (home of the hair facial and 10/10 blow dry) new signature scent and was made in collaboration with Italian fragrance house, Tonatto. This is my new favourite fragrance! It’s smoky, woody, mysterious, delicious.
Thanks for reading! Hope you liked it. (A like, comment or share always makes my day!).
More Smooth Brain Thoughts soon,
Ali xx
Love a good renovation chat 🙌🏼 And also love Bremworth carpets - we have a beautiful wool throughout our bedrooms. Thanks for the book recommendations, love knowing what to add to my list (and like you, I can’t just buy one book at a time!).
So funny, just ordered the Matilda Goad yellow drawer handles and a brass lampshade for our new house! Love all her stuff, although shipping ain’t cheap 😆
