March fits and favourites
A monthly review of my most worn wardrobe items + things that helped and uplifted me
Welcome to everything I wore and loved in March.
When I love something I wear it constantly. I want a closet full of pieces I wear over and over again because a) I adore whatever it is and b) it’s well-made and can withstand being worn long-term. Re-wearing what you own is cool and real - and a sign of a great, conscious shopping mentality.
In a bid to properly assess what I’m wearing and enjoying the most from my closet, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to reflect each month on the five items I wore the most and the various ways I styled it. A monthly style capsule if you will.
I also thought it would be helpful and fun to share 5 of my favourite things from the month - across any category - that positively impacted that period. This will be an ongoing series - for paid subscribers, but I’ll leave the first one freely accessible so you get an idea of what to expect.
Most worn clothes:
Lee Mathews Pink Leo Jacket
I never anticipated how much I’d love a pink jacket but this one from Lee Mathews is pretty much perfect. It’s made from 100% Japanese cotton so it feels thick and sturdy. I love the belt it comes with - I’ve worn both with and without - it’s a nice touch and can be worn buckled up or unbuckled. I love wearing an oversized jacket - it’s my comfort outfit move. It’s a statement and gets lots of compliments!

Pre-loved burgundy v-neck cashmere sweater

I found this beautiful cashmere knit at my local Vinnies op-shop for $40. The op-shop always has great knits - I always head straight to the men’s section to look for cashmere and wool sweaters. I love a v-neck with a white tshirt peeking out up top. I’ve worn it with both skirts and pants - see two ways I styled it below. Can’t wait to wear this more as the temperature drops.

Vintage belted 70’s collared shirt
I bought this shirt secondhand in Nagoya, Japan from 2nd Street and have gotten so much wear out of it. I love the big collar, buttons and belted style. It’s a really nice and style for my shape. It’s one people comment on in real life, asking where it’s from - a good sign of a great buy. It's a cute, sort of more formal option in hot weather - when you need a break from tshirts.

Commonplace polo
I’m so thrilled with this polo. The colour combination is really nice - the yellow, brown, beige and burgundy work so well together, it’s so comfortable to wear and it’s perfectly oversized.

Deiji Studios Flag Tie Pants
If you need a break from denim, a pair of cotton pants might change your life. Deiji make such lovely cotton things that are so easy to move and live life in. These pants (similar here) have a cute side button fly and tie up asymmetrically. I love this unique detail. They look more polished than they feel and are very easy to throw on and go. Here’s two ways I wore them in March.

Five things I enjoyed:
Ever since I heard Relationships by Haim and watched the music video, I’ve been on the biggest Haim kick and Haim Radio on Spotify has been my go-to. I’m sure it’s common knowledge but I love using Spotify for their Radio function - you just type in whatever artist you love and then they calibrate a playlist with similar music vibes. It’s so helpful as I’m so lazy at making playlists and this does all the hard work for you.
I’m very big on sleep rituals and sleep hygiene so have been a user of pillow sprays for years. I recently got the new Kit Good Night Pillow Mist and given how much I love everything that Kit makes - it’s very unsurprising that I am obsessed this one. The mist has Tasmanian Lavender Oil & Steam-Distilled Cedarwood, designed to bring balance to your surrounds.
I’d seen a few friends rave about the new scent, Eucalyptus by Le Labo but of course, didn’t know what to expect without experiencing it for myself. If you have ever smelt anything with hinoki wood and you love that, you’ll love Eucalyptus. It’s warm, woody and familiar. Fragrance notes include: eucalyptus, cedarwood, red thyme, olibanum, labdanum, gurjun balsam, hyssop, musk. It’s a stand out fragrance from their range to me.
Investing in nice bedding is the epitome of adulthood and I can’t recommend it enough. After years of adding different block colourways from Bed Threads into our bedding repertoire, it was time to introduce some pattern! I previously purchased Deiji Studio’s vintage floral linen pillowcases and loved them so much I needed the matching bedspread. I’m so glad I bought the set - it’s so pretty and is calming and nostalgic.
A heavy but important watch, Adolescence on Netflix perfectly delves into an issue that is sadly so prevalent currently in society. It was masterfully executed and deeply emotional.
I’d love to know your favourites from March!

Ali xx
