Sometimes working out what to wear can be so unexciting or just really challenging. So many options, so few ideas. And this time of year we’re all collectively exhausted and BUSY. Who has time to be creative with their wardrobes?!
I have so many clothes, great ones! Same goes for shoes, bags and other accessories but I often suffer with the feeling that I have nothing to wear. Or I throw things on in a rush and it ends up not totally working. It’s always when I’m time poor and don’t have the brain space to think through what lies within my wardrobe and how best to weave it into an outfit I’m happy with.
But then I had a breakthrough - as always, inspiration strikes when you least expect it.
Recently, I was working on a job for reusable drinkwear brand, Fressko - where I’d pitched the idea of matching my outfits and home interiors to their super cute pastel bottles. The bottles I have are a divine sorbet lemon shade and melon. I knew my home and my clothing would pair well with these. So I set about creating and styling outfits entirely from my wardrobe in these tones. It resulted in a slew of new outfit combinations - which I’ll share below.
It taught me a new way to approach dressing - when in doubt an easy and straightforward way to create looks is to go with tonal pieces, mixing in whites, creams and greys etc to complement. I don’t think this is an original approach but it’s one that surprised me in bringing new life to my wardrobe and all that resides within it. I’m all for helpful tips when getting dressed in the morning because how good is:
a) that feeling when you’re excited to get dressed and the options feel endless
b) when you unlock a new combination from pieces in your wardrobe you’ve worn a million times or you finally work out how to wear items that often go unnoticed
c) you leave the house with a spring in your step, loving the look you’ve put together
Here’s to more of that!
